2017 CME is back and the CU Boulder team takes on the challenge.

CME Group's 2017 Trading Challenge is an electronic trading team competition designed to provide student teams with an educational experience consistent with that of professional trading of CME Group products.

Teams participating from CU Boulder include undergraduate and MBA students.

Follow your fellow Buffs and cheer them on as they compete against 400+ teams from almost 40 countries from around the world. Daily standings will be posted to CME Group's website.

Registration Dates:

Registration for general student population opens Monday, January 9, 2017 @ 9:00a.m. MST

Registration for the competition closes on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 @4:00p.m. MST

CME Group's Trading Challenge is a complimentary four-week electronic trading competition where teams of undergraduate and graduate students can trade a variety of CME Group products from multiple asset classes in a simulated trading environment on a real-time professional trading platform provided by CQG.

One of the teams representing the CU-Boulder Leeds School of Business took a fourth place podium position in the final round of the CME Trading Challenge
(see here), out of 468 teams around the world (top 1%).

The top four teams in the competition win a monetary prize and are invited to Chicago on April-15 at the CME day of Market Education Conference (click here). The initial list of all participating teams around the world is posted here.

We congratulate (alphabetically): Alex Bloomston, Everett Nychka, Chris Passarelli, and Andrea Wong for enduring two rounds of trading, while balancing that commitment with their regular academic workload and job search.

We thank Burridge Advisory Board member Massimo Cutuli for generously spending time with the team, advising on market dynamics, news to watch for and risk management.

We thank CQG for their continued support to the school, by allowing our students to practice with real life analysis and trading tools.

About the Trading Challenge

CME Group's Trading Challenge is a complimentary four-week electronic trading competition where teams of undergraduate and graduate students can trade a variety of CME Group products from multiple asset classes in a simulated trading environment on a real-time professional trading platform provided by CQG.

Top ranking students will be eligible for cash prizes and exclusive CME Group experiences. This annual competition has grown each year – with 226 schools from 37 countries and over 503 teams competing this year.

Practice Round
Begins Monday, January 12 @ 8:00 a.m. CT
Concludes Monday, February 2 @ Market Close

Preliminary Round
Begins Tuesday, February 3 @ 8:00 a.m. CT
Concludes Thursday, February 19 @ Market Close
*The top 10% of teams with the highest account balance at the close on Thursday, February 19 will advance to the Final Round.

Final Round
Begins Monday, February 23 @ Market Open
Concludes Friday, March 6 @ Market Close
* The top 4 teams receive a cash prize and are determined by the final account balance at the conclusion of trading.
* Final round participants will be invited to Chicago for CME Group's Day of Market Education.
